About Us

Dead Focus is a digital magazine created by Kayla Erny and Lesa Silvermore, spotlighting the pulse of local creative culture. Centered around community stories, we aim to capture the raw energy of the music scene, elevate the voices of emerging artists, and shine a light on the photographers behind the lens at every venue.

Through photo galleries, written features, and artist interviews, Dead Focus exists for the musicians, photographers, and creatives—offering an honest, intimate look at the people who shape the scene. Our mission is to preserve these stories in real time, giving fans of live music and underground culture a space to connect, reflect, and stay inspired.

Dead Focus - For the Ones Who Stay After the Show.

My name is Kayla, and I love music & photography.

I thought I wanted to be an actress, but I soon enough learned I didn’t want to be in front of the camera – I wanted to be behind it. I went to college for digital photography and built a skillset to realize my passion. It was around this time I really grew into myself, came out of my shell, and began exploring the Manatee-Sarasota arts culture. I quickly became enamored with the music scene, realizing how much talent was packed into this area.

So I started shooting. Music has always been a part of me, so the progression was easy. It felt natural. I now capture the energy and life of music as often as possible. The love I have for my craft continues to grow, and I am fueled by the opportunity to share art with the world, whether it’s mine or yours.

Founder, Editor, Photographer

Co-Founder, Writer, Photographer & Musician

I’m Lesa, a musician, writer, and visual storyteller passionate about self-expression.

With a background in filmmaking, live performance, and a degree in photography, I’ve spent years both on stage and
behind the camera.
I am drawn to the unapologetic, taboo, emotionally raw, and
in-between moments that often go unseen.

I believe art should shake some shit up, make you feel more alive, or spark a beautiful connection that reminds you that you’re not alone. I love the details, the little things that make someone who they are. I want to put a spotlight on your voice, your story. To express is a courageous act and to know the artist behind the craft is powerful. So, stand in your authentic power and I’ll be there to capture it.
